New Web Site (Again)
I have revamped my web site, once again. Oops. I have been using Datenstrom Yellow for a good while, and it is very good. But then I tried out Kev Quirk's (https://kevquirk.com/) PureBlog (https://pureblog.org/), and it is just too ideal for me to pass up. So I apologize if there are some duplicates in my RSS feed.
What I like about PureBlog is that it is simple, works extremely well (I think the only thing I had to debug was an error with my own server that my web host fixed), and has good documentation, and it has all the features I want to include - RSS, a tag cloud, categories, search, decent styling. None of these things are terribly complicated, but they are not always the default with static site generators.
I have tested a whole lot of static site generators, and this is my favorite. So, beautiful work by Kev, I appreciate his sharing it. I tossed a few dollars his way on Ko-Fi to support the project.
What I love the most is the ability to edit things using a control panel, but also have the option to edit the markdown post files directly, so I don't have the use the control panel if I don't want to. That lets me use my Supernote tablet to write markdown and I can just FTP it into place, if I don't want to pull out my computer to upload it.
There is an extra bonus though - I can also access the control panel using the Einkbro web browser on my Supernote tablet. so I can do the whole process without getting out my laptop, if I'm in wifi range. I love a clean, distraction-free interaction, when I can get it, away from email, other websites and online chores. So all that means that PureBlog works really well for my personal preferences.
Now if I can rig my Supernote into a little writerdeck in a case with my mechanical keyboard, I'll be all set.
