(100 Days to offload Day 1)
I have made various attempts at this challenge over the years, and never gotten very far. The challenge is to write one hundred posts within one year. It is a lovely idea intended to get past the overthinking and just get rolling with blogging and writing in general.
The original concept is here put together by Kev Quirk, a blogger and the admin of my current and preferred Mastodon instance, Fosstodon.org.
It may be foolish to attempt extra writing just now, because my life is quite chaotic, as tends to happen with a baby. But the good news is that it's better than it was when I had a newborn and was waking up every 1-2 hours. Now he's a bit bigger and only waking up a few times a night. So while I do long for uninterrupted sleep, I do have more brainpower available now than a few months ago.
While it is difficult to find time to focus, what is helping at the moment is writing on my supernote tablet, which can be done one handed with the stylus while the tablet is on a table or my lap. My phone would work too, but phones are distraction machines, even with all the simplifications I can manage, so I prefer to avoid them when I can.
One of my concerns about this exercise is flooding my blog with extraneous rambles, which I will try to keep concise. But I have been feeling increasingly happy to write what strikes me and not stay limited to the nerdy Linux stuff I originally set the blog up to be about. I am a philosophical person, and have always been interested in writing, digital minimalism and generally navigating the overwhelm of the world in a healthy way.
So I will bring some personal commentary to the blog, but I am making use of tags so if anyone reading this perfers only Linux/tech posts, they can be found here. The posts for the 100 Days challenge can be found here.
